# Is a JSON description the same as schema validation?

Canonical: https://uvilno.com/answers/is-ai-json-output-schema-validated
Updated: 2026-10-27

Uvilno.ai.json parses a bounded JSON object or array and rejects unsafe structures, but a schema description is not domain validation. Generated applications must check required fields, types and permitted values before rendering or saving results. Treat every model response as untrusted input, including valid JSON.

Parsing establishes that the text is JSON, not that it represents your intended record. A quiz may contain a missing answer, a classification may invent a category, or a numeric estimate may be outside your permitted range. Define the checks that matter to the feature.

Render plain values through safe framework bindings, never as arbitrary HTML. If validation fails, show an actionable error and keep the original input. Model-produced identities, URLs and instructions cannot override project authorization, navigate to privileged callbacks or modify the schema by themselves.

## What to verify

| Check | Published behavior | Verification |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Parsing | The proxy bounds JSON size, depth and unsafe keys. | Handle invalid JSON and unavailable output. |
| Domain checks | Required application fields remain the app's responsibility. | Reject missing answers or unsupported categories. |
| Persistence | Hosted collection validation remains independent. | Save only a result matching declared field types. |

## Steps

1. List required output fields and permitted values.
2. Validate before rendering or saving.
3. Preserve input and explain a rejected result.

## Editable starting brief

Plan an AI study-quiz tool that requests concise JSON from Uvilno.ai.json. Validate a question string, bounded answer choices and a correct answer drawn from those choices before rendering. Preserve invalid output as a safe error, not HTML. Save only validated quizzes to a private typed collection and offer a controlled retry.
