Direct edits require ownership, compatible source mapping and saved-version checks; the control is not an unrestricted browser DOM mutation or automatic source unlock.

Use the preview inspector to select the actual element. Review its supported edit controls and save a concrete value, such as a heading correction or destination URL. A direct change should persist in the saved version, not disappear when the iframe reloads.
