Emergent vs Base44 (2026): application workflow and backend handoff

Compare Emergent and Base44 for agent-led development, managed records, app permissions and a realistic ownership handoff, including the Uvilno alternative.

Where Uvilno fits.

Uvilno is useful for a browser application that can express its persistence and bounded automations through the published SDK and benefits from a permanent per-project source entitlement. Its chat, preview and saved-file history give a smaller surface to review. Confirm the SDK and frontend runtime meet the brief; this is not a claim that arbitrary server workloads are bundled.

Check current Uvilno pricing and the supported SDK contract.

Full-stack evaluation rubric.

Uvilno provides conversation-led frontend generation, schema-declared app data and a $4.99 permanent source unlock for one project. Plus costs $10/month; Pro costs $20/month with unlimited source unlocks during the subscription. Generation and hosted services have separate limits.

The five criteria below allocate 100 possible points. Available documentation and recorded Uvilno checks establish some conditions; they do not establish equivalent performance across products. Overall scores remain unmeasured. Unknown evidence is not treated as a failed capability.

Read the proposed scoring and test protocol

Each listed condition has a five-point allocation. This page records evidence, not awarded performance points. “Documented” identifies a stated capability with its requirements. “Recorded Uvilno check” identifies a named first-party fixture; it is not independent comparative testing. “Unmeasured” leaves the condition open. Source-access purchases, annual subscriptions and operating services are different costs.

  1. Code ownership & export cost

Build the same app, obtain its complete source, record the actual purchase, and rebuild on a separate host. Test continued source access and document the backend services that still need migration.

  2. Database, accounts & app AI

Create, edit and remove the same records; reload; repeat with another account; check record permissions; run a real app-AI request and inspect a triggered automation. Record each managed or external dependency.

  3. Targeted edit precision & speed

Apply the same specified changes to matched projects. Compare exact file deltas, verify the rendered target and unchanged routes, and record end-to-end timings including verification. Publish failures as well as successes.

  4. No-usage editing & recovery

Make the same direct edit and introduce the same reproducible fault. Inspect actual usage ledgers, repair limits and saved-version behavior. A limited free path must not be described as unlimited free coding.

  5. Multi-page & interactive applications

Build and navigate the same route plan, exercise state across pages, then measure frame time and input response on named devices. Framework support or an attractive screenshot does not establish a universal 60 FPS result.

A published 4–8 second edit claim needs timing data. A 60 FPS claim needs a named workload, device and frame-time record. Neither is inferred from feature availability, code export or a screenshot. The recorded checks and open evaluation protocol describe the current measurement boundary.

Emergent vs Base44: the actual decision.

Emergent's offer emphasizes conversation-led web and mobile building with an agent workflow. Base44 documents managed application features including database and authentication, plus a separate-project CLI eject path. Choose around the required runtime, data operations and operational handoff. Neither a broad platform label nor the presence of Git integration establishes that an exported app is independent of its hosted services.

Write the application boundary first

Separate interactive frontend behavior from privileged server operations and external services. Then ask Emergent and Base44 for the same minimal acceptance journey. A working dashboard must demonstrate the record and permission boundary behind its controls; a populated screen or a generated backend file is not the same as a verified integration.

Compare the resource handoff

Emergent advertises GitHub integration with Standard. Base44's eject documentation describes copying frontend code and backend resources while leaving data behind. These are useful but different handoff steps. Include a written inventory of environment variables, data, identity configuration and deploy commands before treating either project as moved.

Price a maintenance workflow

Include the first build, a permissions correction, a new route and a data migration rehearsal in a trial. Record the allowance used by each action in the vendor's actual units. The cheapest-looking plan does not reveal the number of retries your particular brief will need, and this comparison does not fabricate a completion rate to fill that gap.

Test your actual application.

Give each shortlisted platform the same brief, content and acceptance criteria. Keep the first working result, recorded usage and remaining manual work together.

  1. Build one protected route and one durable write with an explicit error state.
  2. Ask for an additional route while preserving the existing record workflow.
  3. Test an unauthorized visitor against a privileged operation.
  4. Rehearse a source-and-data handoff and record the manual work it actually needs.

Questions before you choose.

Is a database preview enough to compare these builders?

No. Test a saved write after reload, another visitor's permissions, failure feedback and the service's export path. Those are separate requirements even when the initial interface looks complete.

Does Base44 eject copy the existing data?

The reviewed CLI documentation says the new project receives frontend and backend resources and copied schemas, but its database starts empty. The original application remains unchanged.

When does Uvilno belong in this shortlist?

When the intended web app fits Uvilno's documented managed services and frontend runtime, and separate permanent source ownership matters. Compare its operating limits and hosted dependencies as carefully as the other options.

Sources and method.

Uvilno publishes this comparison and is displayed first as an editorial presentation choice, not an independent ranking. Vendor statements come from the linked official documentation reviewed on October 28, 2026. No common-brief generation contest, aesthetic score, universal frame rate or edit-latency benchmark was performed for this page. A source handoff and migration of hosted data, accounts and services are separate tasks.
