Base44 vs Lovable (2026): managed data and code portability

Compare Base44 and Lovable backend models, source and data exports, visitor accounts and migration work, with Uvilno's $4.99 source option alongside.

Where Uvilno fits.

Uvilno offers a third route for an app that fits typed schema collections and the supported SDK: build by chat, review the isolated preview and unlock source permanently for $4.99. Its exported frontend can still depend on Uvilno-managed auth and data. Apply the same migration checklist to Uvilno rather than calling every export a fully independent backend.

Check current Uvilno pricing and the supported SDK contract.

Full-stack evaluation rubric.

Uvilno provides conversation-led frontend generation, schema-declared app data and a $4.99 permanent source unlock for one project. Plus costs $10/month; Pro costs $20/month with unlimited source unlocks during the subscription. Generation and hosted services have separate limits.

The five criteria below allocate 100 possible points. Available documentation and recorded Uvilno checks establish some conditions; they do not establish equivalent performance across products. Overall scores remain unmeasured. Unknown evidence is not treated as a failed capability.

Read the proposed scoring and test protocol

Each listed condition has a five-point allocation. This page records evidence, not awarded performance points. “Documented” identifies a stated capability with its requirements. “Recorded Uvilno check” identifies a named first-party fixture; it is not independent comparative testing. “Unmeasured” leaves the condition open. Source-access purchases, annual subscriptions and operating services are different costs.

  1. Code ownership & export cost

Build the same app, obtain its complete source, record the actual purchase, and rebuild on a separate host. Test continued source access and document the backend services that still need migration.

  2. Database, accounts & app AI

Create, edit and remove the same records; reload; repeat with another account; check record permissions; run a real app-AI request and inspect a triggered automation. Record each managed or external dependency.

  3. Targeted edit precision & speed

Apply the same specified changes to matched projects. Compare exact file deltas, verify the rendered target and unchanged routes, and record end-to-end timings including verification. Publish failures as well as successes.

  4. No-usage editing & recovery

Make the same direct edit and introduce the same reproducible fault. Inspect actual usage ledgers, repair limits and saved-version behavior. A limited free path must not be described as unlimited free coding.

  5. Multi-page & interactive applications

Build and navigate the same route plan, exercise state across pages, then measure frame time and input response on named devices. Framework support or an attractive screenshot does not establish a universal 60 FPS result.

A published 4–8 second edit claim needs timing data. A 60 FPS claim needs a named workload, device and frame-time record. Neither is inferred from feature availability, code export or a screenshot. The recorded checks and open evaluation protocol describe the current measurement boundary.

Base44 vs Lovable: the actual decision.

Base44 and Lovable both document managed app backends, so the choice is more specific than database versus no database. Compare their data model, visitor authorization, operating allowances and export workflow. Base44's CLI eject command copies frontend and backend resources into a separate project but does not copy application data. Lovable also treats code and database exports as separate responsibilities.

Compare data operations and permission rules

Base44's documented core features include database functionality and authentication; Lovable supplies a managed backend too. Define the entities, relationships and allowed operations before choosing. A convincing demonstration should save real records and deny an unauthorized write, not simply display an editable table in the preview.

Source access is not a complete data transfer

Base44's eject workflow produces a separate local project and a new app identity. Its copied schema starts with an empty database. Lovable's database export is also separate from Git-synchronized code. Record whether files, secrets, functions, user identities and existing rows need additional work; do not describe either platform as universally unable to export source.

Model an operating month

Choose a realistic number of active visitors, form submissions and AI requests, then inspect each vendor's current plan and usage policy. A plan's message or integration allowance is not a guaranteed number of complete applications. Preserve the billing interval and quote when estimating a move, and include the work of recreating hosted-service behavior.

Test your actual application.

Give each shortlisted platform the same brief, content and acceptance criteria. Keep the first working result, recorded usage and remaining manual work together.

  1. Write a simple entity contract and test create, update and permission denial.
  2. Export the frontend and list each runtime dependency that remains hosted.
  3. Export disposable database rows separately and verify the import into a clean target.
  4. Test a newly registered visitor after migration, not just the project creator.

Questions before you choose.

Does Base44 have no code-export path?

That blanket claim is inaccurate. Base44 documents a CLI eject workflow that downloads frontend code, entity schemas and backend resources into a separate project. Its documentation says the ejected database is empty; data migration is separate.

Are Base44 and Lovable both managed database options?

Yes. Both document database and authentication capabilities. Their exact schema tools, permission controls, billing and portability behavior should be checked against the same application requirements.

Does an exported frontend include a portable copy of all visitor accounts?

Do not assume so. Source, application data, uploaded files, secrets and identity services have distinct migration requirements. Prove each part with a disposable test before moving a real application.

Sources and method.

Uvilno publishes this comparison and is displayed first as an editorial presentation choice, not an independent ranking. Vendor statements come from the linked official documentation reviewed on October 28, 2026. No common-brief generation contest, aesthetic score, universal frame rate or edit-latency benchmark was performed for this page. A source handoff and migration of hosted data, accounts and services are separate tasks.
